S2 Episode 11 Fighting Family Court Corruption-Abolish CPS- MaryAnn's Story Pt2

In part one of my chat with my new friend, former Registered Nurse, whistleblower and strong mama,  MaryAnn Petri., we hear how her world got turned upside down.  Years after her divorce, and successful co-parenting., a government agency invaded and changed all that.

She tells us who was responsible for using the kids as a weapon, what made her decide to take the gloves off, and why she fights to end this and draw awareness, so no other parents suffer the same tragic destruction of their once loving relationship with their children.

Despite being denied due process on more than one occasion,  and spending her life’s savings……..she keeps on going.

  • The Department of Children and Families  (aka CPS-Child Protective Services) was initially set up to be a resource, guide and protector for children who were at risk for abuse or neglect …..AND their families.

What would you think if you found out… in most states, that there is a 20 to 1 ratio of calls/reports to one “real” case needing intervention? Or that these agencies aren’t actually a government department, they are contractors that bill governments/localities/counties for their service…..and they get paid by the number of children/families they “serve”…….. the money keeps coming the longer that family “needs services”.

More ‘interventions’=more fed dollars coming in=more people on the case getting higher paychecks.

Many cases (which likely didn’t need or even meet the state legal definitions, regarding any intervention) end up with 7,8,9 different people “working” on the case. Parents are being denied visitation, decisions are made without any due process and reports are fabricated.  That multitude of people working on the case often includes two or three personal attorneys for the child, the District Attorney/Prosecutor, 2 (or more) social workers, agency supervisor, intake worker, and foster parents. ALL, of which, get paid to go after the parents or caregivers. The parents, often, are left with no defense or have to spend the little resources they have, on a single private attorney, and that is if they can find one. There are few attorneys that will fight CPS/DCF because they know it’s an uphill battle that few win.

According to the National Center for Abused and Neglected Children in Washington D.C. Children are 7 times more likely to be harmed in foster/adoption care than they ever would have been with their own families.

This system has no checks and balances.

In this dysfunctional system, there is no proof or evidence required, and the financial motive, mood, education and training of intake workers, all play a part in many families being ripped apart, who are then denied justice and due process. Unfortunately, many of these families are lower income or single parents who have little recourse to fight the corrupt practices of the agency.

The motivation for the county? You guessed it. MONEY. Each child that is “legally kidnapped” into the system equates to a paycheck for multiple lawyers, workers, judges and foster parents. Not only that, but it also secures the Federal cash to keep coming in to that “under-served” area. The Civil Rights of too many parents are stripped for what appears, is to make the Family Court/CPS system, able to receive more Fed money. Join the fight to abolish this corrupt system, while still protecting children, and put it back in the hands of those trained to assess, apply and uphold the law, fairly, without financial motive, law enforcement. At the very least, the money incentive MUST be stopped. We must establish neutral oversight of these “agencies” before more families suffer at the hands of workers who abuse their power for their own benefit, knowing they will be protected through “immunity”. We must ensure that the workers who have little actual concern for the families they are suppose to help, and little to no accountability, are weeded out, and our children/families are truly served and protected.
