The seduction & lure of "For-Profit" Colleges is not often what it appears.

Ask yourself questions like, "Does Harvard or Yale hand out lanyards at high schools?"
Always ask about accreditation, cost break down, and double check percents of grads in the actual workforce and their corresponding salaries before enrolling. ALWAYS READ everything you sign......
As a higher education whistleblower, and the first administrative dean to go through a trial against a large For Profit chain and win, my case caught the attention of higher ed watchdog, David Halperin, so many years ago. I found out how fortunate we all are, that there are people like David. These people fight every day for all of our kids, veterans, single moms and anyone just working to gain an education and better themselves. Like me, he has seen and heard all the horror stories that unfortunately go along with "For-Profit" colleges, and works tirelessly to educate and advocate for higher standards and better regulations against a tide of varying political theater and monied interests in our own government. Listen in as we discuss the various angles that these types of colleges use to lure students, and how to best use your Federal Financial Aid dollars and expose those who have no problem stealing them.

David Halperin engages in public advocacy work on a wide range of issues, including higher education and climate change. The founding executive director of the American Constitution Society; White House speechwriter and special assistant for national security affairs to President Clinton; and counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee. He has represented clients in the U.S. Supreme Court and various state and federal courts. He writes at Republic Report, and his articles also have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, The Nation, Politico, Slate, Foreign Policy, and other outlets. In recent years he has testified before the House Oversight Committee and at the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Transportation, and spoken at major events held by the National Consumer Law Center, Consumer Federation of America, Arizona State University, American Educational Research Association, and Center for American Progress. Halperin has served for more than a decade on the board of directors of Public Citizen. He graduated from Yale College and Yale Law School.
